Why

Extra-virgin olive oil contains heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids along with polyphenols, compounds found in many plant foods that research suggests may benefit health. In its 2018 report “Brain Food,” the Global Council on Brain Health encourages use of healthy fats, including extra virgin olive oil. Among 110 adults 65 and up who were following a Mediterranean-style diet, those who replaced other vegetable oils with extra-virgin olive oil for a year scored better on brain-function tests, according to a 2018 report in the Journal of Translational Medicine.
