Add a Memory Game to TV Time

Screen time doesn’t have to be passive

Quick Win

Play a fun game while watching a show this evening. In “Who Plays Who?” you commit to learning the names of the actors. It’s fun — and mentally stimulating.

Try This Today

  • Start with the familiar. While watching a show tonight, note any lead actors whose names you know — as well as the characters they play. Write them down as you see them appear on the screen.
  • Do your research. For actors you don’t know, look them up online and write down their names along with their character names.
  • Repeat. Quiz yourself on the actors’ names during commercial breaks — and the next time you watch the show. When you get the lead actors’ names down, tackle the supporting actors.

Why

We do a lot of learning and retaining information during our school days and in college. But keeping our brains active as adults is important, too! Making everyday activities more interesting and challenging is one way to engage and stimulate the brain, according to the Global Council on Brain Health 2017 report, “Engage Your Brain.”
