Try this today

Looking to expand your social horizons? Make a list of organizations that interest you by thinking about:

  • What are the options in your community?
  • Are organizations you've donated money to potential options?
  • Where do people you know volunteer?
  • Who might know of organizations that you'd like? (For example, if you have a pet and want to volunteer with animals, your veterinarian may have suggestions.)

Identify your top choices. Contact the organizations, inquire about volunteering and make your selection.

Why

Being a volunteer keeps your brain and body active, which contributes to continuing cognitive health. Getting out into your community by volunteering can also help you establish positive social connections as you help others.
